Static QR codes: the content is written into the code itself, with no redirection through our servers. It will always work, unlike “dynamic” QR codes that stop working at the end of a free trial. Static vs. dynamic: the difference

What should your QR code open?
Content: Link

Website, social media page, form, online menu…

32 characters at most. A short prompt works best.

    Error correction M

Share of the code that can be damaged, dirty or covered without preventing reading. The higher it is, the more modules the code has.

100% local processing, nothing is uploaded

    How does it work?

Paste the address of the page to open: website, menu, form, product page, social media profile, video. If you forget the protocol (“example.com/menu”), https:// is added automatically, and an unencrypted link (http) is flagged.

The code contains your address as is, with no shortener or redirect: the phone shows your domain before opening the page, which reassures your visitors, and nothing can stop working on our side.

The longer the address, the denser the code and the larger it must be printed. Remove unnecessary parameters; keep campaign parameters (utm_source…) if you want to measure the visits coming from the code with your own analytics tool.

    Examples

    A short address

https://mariosdiner.com (23 characters) gives a code of 25 × 25 modules: scanned from 30 cm (1 ft), it only needs to measure 4 cm (1.6 in) per side, white margin included.

    A link with campaign tracking

With three UTM parameters, the menu address reaches 92 characters and the code 41 × 41 modules: at 30 cm, it needs 5.9 cm (2.3 in). In return, your analytics tool counts the visits coming from the table tents.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code with a phone?
Open the camera app and point it at the code: iPhones (iOS 11 and later) and most recent Android phones recognize it directly and show a notification to tap. Otherwise, use the Google Lens app, or our online QR code scanner.
Should I shorten my link before creating the QR code?
It is unnecessary and not recommended: a shortener adds a middleman that may disappear, hides your domain and worries cautious visitors. Prefer a short address on your own website.
Can the link point to a PDF file?
Yes: put the PDF online on your website or in publicly shared storage, then create the code with its address. The phone will open the document in its viewer.
Which format should I choose: SVG, PNG or PDF?
SVG for printing and layout software (Canva, Illustrator, InDesign, Affinity): as a vector format, it stays sharp at any size. PNG for a Word document, an email or a website, at 1,024 px or more. PDF to print an A4 sheet directly with the code at the size you want.
    Will my QR code expire?
No. The QR codes created here are static: your link, text or credentials are written into the pattern of the code itself. There is no server between the phone and your content, so there is nothing to renew or pay for: the code will work as long as the content (your website, for example) exists.
