    How does it work?

    Give a title, the start and end dates and times (or tick “All day”), the location and a description. The code contains an event in iCalendar format (VEVENT): when scanned, it offers to add it to the phone’s calendar.

    Times are stored in local time: the event shows at the time given, where it takes place. For an event over several days, tick “All day” and enter the first and last day.

    An event with a long description makes a dense code: keep the essentials, and link to a web page for the detailed program.

    An open day

    “High school open day”, on March 13, 2027 from 9 am to 12:30 pm, with the address: 165 bytes, a code of 53 × 53 modules. On a poster read from 1 m (3 ft), allow 24.4 cm (9.6 in) per side.

    An invitation card

    The same event printed on an invitation read from 30 cm (1 ft) needs 7.4 cm (2.9 in): that is a lot for a 10 × 15 cm (4 × 6 in) card. Remove the description, shorten the location, and the code shrinks accordingly.

    Frequently asked questions

    Do all phones add the event to the calendar?
    The camera on most Android phones offers it directly. On iPhone, depending on the iOS version, the event is shown or requires a scanner app. Our online scanner provides an .ics file to open with your calendar in every case.
    How do I handle a change of schedule?
    The code contains the printed times: if they change, you need to create a new one. For an event likely to change, point the code to a web page kept up to date instead.
    Can I add a reminder?
    Reminders are set by each person in their calendar: most calendars add one by default on import.
    Will my QR code expire?
    No. The QR codes created here are static: your link, text or credentials are written into the pattern of the code itself. There is no server between the phone and your content, so there is nothing to renew or pay for: the code will work as long as the content (your website, for example) exists.
