Static QR codes: the content is written into the code itself, with no redirection through our servers. It will always work, unlike “dynamic” QR codes that stop working at the end of a free trial. Static vs. dynamic: the difference

What should your QR code open?

32 characters at most. A short prompt works best.

Share of the code that can be damaged, dirty or covered without preventing reading. The higher it is, the more modules the code has.

100% local processing, nothing is uploaded

    How does it work?

Enter the recipient’s address and, if you like, a subject and the beginning of the message. The code contains a mailto: link (RFC 6068 standard): when scanned, it opens the phone’s email app with the fields filled in. Accents, line breaks and special characters are encoded correctly.

The visitor stays in control: they can complete the message before pressing “Send”, and nothing is sent without their action. A precise subject (“Product return”, “Workshop sign-up, March 12”) helps you sort the messages you receive.

    Examples

    Customer support

To [email protected], with the subject “Product return” and the opening “Order number: ”, the code has 37 × 37 modules (77 bytes). Printed in the user manual and scanned from 30 cm (1 ft), it must measure 5.4 cm (2.1 in).

    Signing up by email

A club displays a “Workshop sign-up, March 12” code: every message received has the same subject, and an email filter automatically moves them into a folder. No more copying an address from a poster.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code send the email automatically?
No. It opens a prefilled draft; the person scanning chooses whether to send it. No sending can be triggered by a QR code without their consent.
    Which email app opens?
The default one on the phone: Mail on iPhone, Gmail or the manufacturer’s app on Android. On a computer, it is the installed email program or the web service set up in the browser.
    Can I add several recipients?
The form provides one main recipient, the most reliable option from one app to another. To write to a team, use a shared address (contact@, team@).
    Will my QR code expire?
No. The QR codes created here are static: your link, text or credentials are written into the pattern of the code itself. There is no server between the phone and your content, so there is nothing to renew or pay for: the code will work as long as the content (your website, for example) exists.
